School Violence and Bullying Isn't Going Away, Time to Stop Talking and Take Action

Wilmette, IL (PRWeb) January 4, 2007 -- School is starting up again next week, and is it going to be any safer for numerous students? 282,000 students are physically attacked each month in secondary schools. Every month 950,000 weapons are brought to school. In Japan there has been a handful of suicides recently due to children being bullied. How do we get parents, teachers, administrators and the community to work together?

Arming teachers and adding more metal detectors are dumb ideas. Expelling a 13-year-old who turns in a gun he found shows a lack of leadership. It does not take a rocket scientist or over reactions to address what really needs to be done. There are numerous solutions. Bullying will always thrive where bystanders do nothing and where authority is weak. Every administrator states that they take all bullying incidents very seriously. This of course is just talk because actions speak louder than words.
