College Money Management BootCamp Comes to NH's Seacoast

Portsmouth, NH (PRWeb) March 25, 2007 -- Peter Bielagus, America's top expert on young people and their money, will hold his first College Money Management BootCamp on Saturday, May 12 at the Sheraton Harborside in Portsmouth, New Hampshire, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event is for high school juniors and seniors.

Open to only 35 students, the College Money Management BootCamp is designed for those students who are serious about getting ahead financially. The event will cover everything college students need to know about money management from credit cards to identity theft.

"But," says Bielagus, "This is more than a one day event. I've developed an online program that helps students long after the seminar."

Bielagus' plan is to have the students form mastermind groups and continue to communicate with each other about their goals when they go through college. The last hour of the daylong seminar is open to parents. In this special session Bielagus will answer parents' questions and concerns about their student's finances.

A New Hampshire native who had $5,000 in credit card debt his freshman year of college, Bielagus now travels the country speaking to college students about jumpstarting their personal finances. Bielagus is also the author of Getting Loaded™-- A complete personal finance guide for students and young professionals (Penguin Putnam/NAL).

"Today, poor money management is the number one reason for students to drop out of college," said Bielagus. "I think there are enough parents out there who will invest the small amount of money to protect a $150,000 investment."

Bielagus grew up in Amherst, New Hampshire, and attended the University of Miami, Florida. Today Bielagus splits his time between Maine and New Hampshire. He is a licensed financial advisor who runs one of the few financial planning firms in the country that specializes exclusively in young people.
