Bridgewater College Chooses OTAir's University Emergency Notification System for Campus Alerts
Richmond, VA (PRWEB) October 10, 2007 -- OTAir, LLC, a national leader specializing in mobile marketing technology, has announced an agreement with Bridgewater College to provide the school with emergency and security alerts through text messaging and email. Bridgewater College will use OTAir's University Alert System (UAS), which allows authorized school officials to notify students, staff, faculty, local authorities and more about any emergency situation where instant communication is critical.
The University Alert broadcast system can be used to reach large groups of people, including parents, alumni, sports fans, and more to provide instant information in a crisis situation. Broadcasts can be sent to all students, members of the university community, or specific groups for class cancellations, sports scores, weather alerts, emergencies, or any situation requiring real-time broadcast notifications.
"OTAir's University Alert System provided an excellent addition to Bridgewater's already strong Crisis Plan," says Aaron Klein, Manager of Telecommunications and Special Projects at Bridgewater College. "By implementing an emergency notification plan that includes more active methods of contacting the campus community, we are able to maximize the safety of our students, faculty and staff."
While the size of the Bridgewater campus can help facilitate communication in an emergency situation, text messaging adds a more proactive method of notification in a crisis situation. The text message and email alerts provided through OTAir's University Alert System will serve as a primary method of contact; however students, faculty, and staff will still be able to obtain information on the school's Website and weather/emergency hotline. Additionally, timely announcements will be broadcast on local radio and TV stations.
OTAir's alert and emergency notification system is available for colleges and universities in a variety of configurations, including upgraded versions that integrate directly into the school's student Websites. OTAir can work with any size educational institution to create unique functionality in the OTAir messaging system that is tailored exactly to that institution's specifications and notification needs.
The OTAir alert and emergency system provides instant broadcast capabilities; you can receive an example of an alert notification from OTAir directly on your cell phone. Simply send the message ALERTME to the number 68247 as a text message. You'll instantly receive a message that highlights the speed and efficiency that OTAir's broadcast capabilities can provide for your college, university, or institution of higher education.
