University of Fairfax President Victor Berlin Announces Affiliation with Jones International University

Fairfax County, VA (PRWEB) November 21, 2007 -- Seeking to lead the country in higher education to combat cyber crime, the University of Fairfax President Victor Berlin (http://www.victorberlin.net) announced a new collaboration with the JIU's School of Business which will result in an expansion of the JIU Master of Business Administration in Information Security Management beginning January 6, 2008.

JIU's expanded on-line MBA-INFOSEC degree program, in collaboration with the University of Fairfax, will cultivate industry and government leaders who can effectively lead organizations to anticipate and defend against cyber attacks. The expanded focus on information security and information assurance will address accelerating shortages in qualified personnel who can effectively protect corporate information systems; it is a field that is forecast to grow by more than 2 million workers by 2008.

With today's information security challenges, including hacking and identity theft, as well as the need to adapt corporate information systems to such federal mandates as Sarbanes-Oxley, HIPPA, Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Federal Information Security Management Act, JIU has assembled a faculty of information security industry experts who will enable students to develop key leadership capabilities in the field.

"This innovative collaboration with JIU will enable senior INFOSEC practitioners to attain leadership positions by integrating both executive level management competencies along with Information Assurance and Information Security competencies," said President Victor Berlin, University of Fairfax.

"The JIU School of Business is dedicated to addressing national business priorities in its curriculum said Terry Erdle, Chancellor of Jones International University. "JIU has joined with the University of Fairfax to offer its expanded MBA-ISM. UoF students when admitted by JIU may concurrently earn the MBA-INFOSEC while they pursue their studies at the University of Fairfax."

The expanded MBA in Information Security will:

?Build on tested leadership curricula focused on the application of theory, concepts and skills needed in the ever-changing InfoSec arena.

?Be taught by top level practitioner faculty from federal and private sector employers.

?Incorporate practical applications throughout the curriculum including vulnerability assessments, intrusion detection and security policy development and implementation.

?Enable students to complete their degrees entirely on-line.

?Support students with services that foster academic success and career growth.
