Barrier-Breaking African American Journalist Chuck Stone Endorses New Minority Graduate School Directory, Diversity.GradSchools.com
Chester, PA (PRWEB) January 8, 2008 -- Renowned African-American journalist and educator Chuck Stone has endorsed Diversity.GradSchools.com an EducationDynamics (http://www/educationdynamics.com), LLC web portal designed to help underrepresented students search and apply for graduate programs (http://diversity.gradschools.com). Stone expresses his support for advanced education and Diversity.GradSchools.com in an article featured exclusively on the Diversity website, titled "Grad School Degrees for Minority Students - Chart Your Course to a Richer Life (http://www.gradschools.com/diversity/testimonial.html)".
"I am very impressed by this new directory as it will serve an instrumental role in raising minority student awareness of the educational opportunities available to them beyond an undergraduate degree," says Stone. "More and more I've come to believe that the key to success for underrepresented groups in our society lies not so much in politics or in the quest for political equality, but in education."
Diversity.GradSchools.com is a sub-portal of GradSchools.com (http://www.gradschools.com), the Internet's most popular graduate school directory, with more than 60,000 programs searchable by subject and location. Launched in November, the site not only gives minority students the opportunity to search for graduate programs, it helps students identify financial aid resources, as well as research/teaching assistantships and fellowships available exclusively to minority students. In addition, Diversity.GradSchools.com provides a wealth of resources, including an extensive library of articles about graduate education and blogs penned by peers who are currently in the process of selecting a grad school.
"Having Chuck's endorsement is a powerful vehicle through which Diversity.GradSchools.com can reach a wider minority base and inspire them to follow in his footsteps to achieve greatness," says Lori Mitchell, general manger of GradSchools.com. "We believe the combination of his support and the site's resources will provide the motivation and tools these underrepresented students need to succeed in post-graduate education."
Founding president of the National Association of Black Journalists, Stone served as a political columnist for the Philadelphia Daily News from 1972 to 1991, and he hosted a number of national and local television public affairs programs and radio talk shows. In addition, Stone served as the Walter Spearman Professor of Journalism at the University of North Carolina, a position from which he retired from in 2005. Stone has also authored books on Black Power, including King Strut and Squizzy the Black Squirrel. Stone earned his bachelor's degree from Wesleyan University in Connecticut and his master's degree in sociology from the University of Chicago.
