Center for Digital Imaging Arts at Boston University Teams Up with Children's Hospital Boston on Cancer Book
(PRWEB) June 5, 2008 -- Center for Digital Imaging Arts (CDIA) at Boston University is pleased to announce the release of the book "Faces of Hope: Stories of Inspiration and Strength During the Journey through Childhood Cancer".
"Faces of Hope" is the result of collaboration between Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Children's Hospital Boston and CDIA, including photography done by students in the Digital Photography (http://www.cdiabu.com/photography.php) program.
Proceeds from sales of the book will provide copies at no cost to families nationwide who have a child with cancer.
Book Synopsis
Faces of Hope was inspired by the strength, courage and grace doctors see while working with pediatric oncology patients and families on a daily basis.
Who better to speak to the fears of those just starting this journey and who better to inspire families new to this experience than those who walked a similar path? Personal stories may vary, but the emotional jolt of being thrust into an unfamiliar and uncertain world is a universal experience. We asked families to share thoughts they would want to tell new families, or words they wished others had spoken to them, as they began to navigate through their child's cancer diagnosis. We asked patients, both currently on treatment and also childhood cancer survivors, to speak to those who will follow in their footsteps and to offer encouragement and advice for other adolescents and young adults facing cancer treatment.
Through this book, patients and parents impart their wisdom, give valuable insight, inspire courage and evoke hope through the journey that is childhood cancer.
