Academy of Art University Emerging Artist Adam Reeder Receives Prestigious Recognition in Two Esteemed Sculpture Invitationals

San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) June 15, 2008 -- Emerging artist and Academy of Art University School of Fine Art Sculpture MFA student Adam Reeder has proved the grace and ingenuity of his striking figurative sculpture are destined for international renown, with two stunning recognitions by the National Sculpture Society and the Loveland Sculpture Invitational this summer.

From dozens of applications, Reeder's portfolio was selected by the Education Committee of the National Sculpture Society as one of 13 finalists for the prestigious 29th Annual National Figure Modeling Competition, co-sponsored by the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts, the National Sculpture Society, Brookgreen Gardens, and the New York Academy of Art. The competition involves the impressive feat of each artist sculpting a full 30 to 36-inch figure in 5 days. It will be held at the Lyme Academy College of Fine Arts in Old Lyme, Connecticut from Sunday, June 15 to Friday, June 20, 2008.

A jury of premier sculptors also chose Reeder to participate in the 17th Annual Loveland Sculpture Invitational in Loveland, Colorado, where he will exhibit ten figurative sculptures. As America's largest outdoor sculpture show, the Loveland Sculpture Invitational is set at the foot of the spectacular Rocky Mountains under expansive white tents. It is on view to the public from Friday, August 8 to Sunday, August 10, 2008.

Reeder's additional impressive honors this spring include the internationally active Medtronic Foundation commissioning a sculpture from Reeder to appear in its Diabetes Research Gallery in Northridge, CA and the Academy of Art University's Graduate School of Fine Art Sculpture awarding Reeder the prestigious Figurative Sculpture First Place Award for Pan with his iPod. Reeder's dazzling work will remain on view at the Academy of Art University's 2008 Annual Spring Show, which is located at 601 Brannan Street, San Francisco, CA 94107, through July 25, 2008.
