Personal Trainer Certification Students Learn from Olympic Gold Medalist at CNI College
Orange County, CA (PRWEB) June 20, 2008 -- The students from the Personal Trainer Certification program (http://www.cnicollege.edu/fitnesstraining/coursereview.shtml) at CNI College received a special treat when they visited The Iron Oarsman in Costa Mesa. There, they received a lesson in rowing from Olympic gold medalist, Xeno Müller. Müller won Olympic gold in the Men's single scull for his home country of Switzerland at the 1996 Games in Atlanta. Müller also won silver in the single scull at the 2000 games in Sydney. Müller now owns and operates The Iron Oarsman, a facility aimed at indoor rowing enthusiasts.
The students that are enrolled to obtain a personal training certification (http://www.cnicollege.edu/personalfitnesstraining.shtml), completed a one-hour instructional session and workout on the Concept 2 indoor rowers at the Iron Oarsman as part of their school curriculum which prepares them to create personal fitness programs for a wide range of clientele. Many of the students had never rowed before and were surprised at how physically challenging their workout on the indoor rower was. One student, Cole Evans, stated that it was the hardest and most fun workout he had ever had on a cardiovascular machine.
"Teaching is terrific?CNI has a program that is focused on excellence. I would only work with a school that prescribed such a philosophy to their students' success," said Müller.
The indoor rowing experience is only one of several trips the CNI College Personal Trainer Certification program embarks on during their schooling. Other trips have included hiking in the nearby mountains, beach boot camps, and running clinics. In addition, the students have gained invaluable practical knowledge by visiting different sports and fitness facilities including Velocity Sports performance in Orange, CA and meeting with the Anaheim Ducks' Strength and Conditioning Coach, Sean Skahan in the strength facility at the Honda Center.
About CNI College: The CNI Personal Training program is a nine month program that prepares students to pass the Certified Personal Trainer examination through the National Strength and Conditioning Association (NSCA). The NSCA approved curriculum encompasses anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, fitness testing, exercise techniques, program design and implementation, business management and a myriad of physical activities.
